This policy covers thingamatronics.com. It lists what the forms on this site store, who sends the email, how long the records stay, and how you get off a list.
The OPC Data Wrangler waitlist, the OPC Telescope updates list, and an OPC Telescope download request all ask for an email address. We store the address with the list you chose.
The contact form asks for your name, your email, an optional company, and a message. We send that message to contact@thingamatronics.com so we can reply. Writing to us does not add you to a list.
Consent timestamps
A list form shows the sentence you are agreeing to. We store that sentence with the address, and we store the time you submitted the form. When you open the confirmation link, we store that time. When you unsubscribe, we store that time. We also store which form the signup came from.
You are not on a list until you confirm. The confirmation link lasts 7 days from the time you submitted the form. After that, submit the form again.
A download request is the consent record for the download list. The wording we store is that you asked for the OPC Telescope download link on the download form. Opening the link confirms that list, and any optional list you ticked on the same form. The download link lasts 7 days.
IP address, for abuse prevention
We use the IP address of a signup or download request to limit how often that address can submit the form. The count lives in memory on the API and drops off within an hour. We do not write the raw IP address into the database.
We do store a keyed hash of the IP address on the signup record. The hash can show that two requests came from the same address. It is not the address itself.
Pages you visit
This site can load Google Analytics, measurement ID G-SGM1JQ72KE. It stays off until you accept it in the analytics bar. If you accept, Google receives each page view, including the path. If you reject, or have not chosen yet, the tag is not loaded and Google receives no page views from us.
We store your choice in this browser's local storage, under the key analytics-consent. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser. The bar then asks again.
The forms use Google reCAPTCHA. The check goes to Google, and then to our API. We do not store the reCAPTCHA token.
Resend
We send mail through Resend (https://resend.com). Resend is the processor for that mail. It delivers confirmation messages, list messages, download links, and the copy of a contact form that goes to contact@thingamatronics.com. To do that, Resend receives the recipient address and the message.
Retention
We keep a list record for as long as we run the list. The record is the email address, the consent wording, the timestamps, the form it came from, and the IP hash.
Unsubscribe does not delete the row. The row is how we know you opted out, and it is the copy of what you agreed to. We do not send list mail to an unsubscribed address. Joining that list again takes a new confirmation.
Contact messages stay in the contact@thingamatronics.com mailbox so we can answer them. Nothing deletes that mailbox on a schedule.
Unsubscribe
Every list email includes an unsubscribe link. Open the link and confirm, or use the one-click unsubscribe in your mail program. The link works even if you have not confirmed yet. Using it again changes nothing. It stops mail for that list only.
You can also write to contact@thingamatronics.com and name the list.
